Meet Delanie,

Hey friends, I’m Delanie! I’m born and raised in Orlando, Florida with dreams to move abroad. I come from a mixed Puerto Rican & Mexican family that inspired my admiration for spending my days in the kitchen. After going to culinary school and working in the restaurant industry for 10 years - I have pivoted my approach to respect my passion for food, cooking and hospitality. Through social media, I really enjoy connecting with others by sharing stories from my life while sharing recipes from my kitchen. I am on a mission to make plant-based cuisine approachable, fun and delicious. Part of my decision to transition to full time content creation is in taking some time to focus on my health.

Lets get real for a moment - After some recent life changing diagnoses I have been making changes in my life to slow down. I used to pride myself on being able to push through my exhaustion thinking my strength was digging deep and pushing through. For a while I thought if I pushed myself more that I could get back to the person I used to be, working long hours, juggling all the things, showing up for everyone but my body had other plans. No matter how hard I try to push through, my energy just isn’t what it used to be and sometimes even daily tasks feel challenging.

I am learning to slow down and respect my limits even if others don’t understand. Right now my strength may look different than it did before but that doesn’t mean it isn’t there and that has honestly been my biggest lesson.

What is Pre-Shift ?

Welcome to my unapologetic corner of the internet. Pre-Shift is a blog, a newsletter, an online community if you will.

Think of me as a lil pen pal where you get a weekly update, typically Saturday mornings where I share what I made this week and some links to things I am loving from books, podcasts and kitchen gadgets.

Paid subscribers get a sneak peak at upcoming recipes in the works, and access to my e-books full of recipes and grocery guides.

Why Should You Pay For It ?

My goal here is to connect with a smaller, more intimate audience—building a space where vulnerability is welcome and we all feel supported. A Substack allows me to continue creating helpful and inspiring content while also giving me the space to elaborate on topics outside of what you see on Instagram. Substack is a place where I can do this and stay true to my value of privacy. My goal here is to connect with a smaller, more intimate audience—building a space where vulnerability is welcome and we all feel supported.

a note on accessibility.

To clarify: I don’t expect everyone to pay for my Substack. (There are a lot of these popping up everywhere, I get it.) But I do want everyone interested to be able to access this content. That’s why I’ve set my subscription cost to as low as it can go—$5/month or $50 for the year.

Let’s do the math: $50 spent every year is $4.10/month—somewhere around what you’d pay for a standard drink in a Cafe. I like to think of this as a comparable equivalent: it’s an experience that brings a little inspiration, warmth, and community to your day. The difference? You can always come back to this Substack for more.
